A community in a district in the lower part of the Kansas River valley in Kansas City, Kansas. Armourdale is the district between the West Bottoms and the Rosedale, Kansas area. The neighborhood has rooted that dates way back 140 years ago. However, the neighborhood has been falling on harder times that the population is shrinking.
Leaders with the Unified Government of Wyandotte County plans to help Armourdale to get back on its feet. Armourdale was home to 12,000 residents but then it went down to just 2,500. Armourdale’s has been established back in 1882 and the area was used for industrial at some point. Hand said homeowners have gradually left the area as heavy industrial plants came in.
